Goals
The main goal of this project was to help the team get their game ready for Nintendo Switch. The 3D environmental art they currently had was not transferring well to the Switch, and so they wanted to change to 2D environmental assets in a 3D Space.
I was tasked with re-designing the ground textures for all four seasons, as well as creating some nature elements for each season to help bring the game to life, while also being able to transfer to Nintendo Switch.
Challenges
Some of the challenges I faced while working on this project were working with Unity. I had never worked on a major project with this game engine before, so learning how everything worked was a bit of a learning curve for me.
This was also my first 3D project. Even though I was tasked with making 2D designs, they were being placed by me in a 3D space, and 3D objects. So learning how to translate 2D texture masks to a 3D form, as well as placing 2D objects in a 3D space, was challenging but exciting. I really learned a lot from this project and gained a lot of new skills.
